One reason why I moved across to a self hosted Wordpress installation was so that I could monetize my blog. You are not able to put in Google adverts and other advertising streams in the free Wordpress blogs.

If you go self hosted then you will find that there are all sorts of different Plugins to Wordpress which can improve your site functionally and aesthetically.

There are also a whole heap of Wordpress Plugins which can help with monetizing your blog. These plugins make light work of installing adverts such as Google Adsense, Bidvertiser and all the others that are out there.
